Nostrils engulfed the delicate hint of perfume very familiar to her. With this, her brain flooded with images of who it might be from. Ah! Of course, the Pokémon appears, her face just as pretty as… practically every time Jennie sees it; eyes twinkling with laughter, teeth glistening as she smiled, especially the crooked ones on the front that became the bunny-looking darling’s defining feature.
So much time had passed since they last… well, they talk very often. Through text messages, at least. As of late, conversations have consisted of things contrary to what they normally talked about. Curtly put, inappropriate jokes. Maybe the nudge came from the liberating feeling of being away from lovers or being without one completely. Don’t divulge, this is a secret. Jennie would never want anyone bearing the burden of guilt (especially not the one person she cared for the most) over this fleeting feeling that’s meant to be taken as its less intrinsic value.
The thought process was becoming unnecessarily too deep. Rewind. Her friend here needed her ass to be kissed. She was only really thinking about what else to say when everything’s been said. The compliments were a daily thing, it was part of the dynamics. Was this needed? Yes. What are friends for if not the ones to boost each other’s egos? “Nayeon is…” Just for suspense, she pauses. Long enough to get Nayeon to hold her breath. Maybe a little longer than that, actually.
As she stalls, her eyes shift left and right, front nowhere to the friend in question. Then she deliberately diverts her attention elsewhere… elsewhere she hasn’t thought of yet on the spot, which was why her head turns a couple of times around the room before it settles with a slight snap of her neck, line of sight falling on her nails. She checks every corner of it, every edge, every detail on its art, eyes focused to the point that they’d crossed then she stretches them away from her to get a zoomed out view.
Eyes now squinted, she mouths a soft ‘hmm’ sound then looks back at the friend’s direction. “…a friend who wouldn’t let the balloon I kicked touch the ground. Which is something important. To me, anyway. She’s that kind of friend. Bonus that her sneezes sound like the chorus of angels giggling, that she makes the best cereal… and that she’s not flexible so I look a little better next to her. I love Nayeon.” And she ends this note with her iconic duck lips.
