Chaeyoung was an optimist. If there was any trait that embodied the female, it was that. And if people thought Jennie was a positive person, they haven’t met this one yet. Which was why the younger’s tone of voice worries her. She stops to think for a moment if something had happened today because clearly, she wasn’t talking like herself. Fingers come to wrap gently at the other’s arm whilst her free hand tucks stray strands of the younger’s hair away from her face and behind her ear. She’d ask first if she was right on guessing something had happened but in a way, she understood why the question had come up.
Days go by with her constantly bothered about the outcome of their efforts, nights spent awake just trying to practice in her own time, or do a lot more than what’s needed. She pushed herself everyday, and maybe it was the reason she hadn’t noticed what was going on with her friend, sister, and fellow member. Maybe it was why she hadn’t been feeling much like the leader she was supposed to be.
There was a moment of silence and a sigh let out before she speaks up with as much encouragement gathered at the tip of her tongue. “Hey, for someone who’s trained the shortest, you’ve surpassed yourself.” She smiles faintly, hands coursing down Chaeyoung’s arms until they’re holding onto her rounded yet long and slender, pretty hands. “What did the production team say? Good job, right? I’d say omega good job for Chaeyoungie.” And yet, even she wasn’t satisfied with the attempt she’d made.
She resorts to silently asking herself as well. What if it’s not everything she wanted? Take into account the many songs that’s been scrapped, now replaced with new ones with only four girls left from about a dozen that started along with her; even the compositions she had taken part in completely going down the drain. Six years and it isn’t everything that she ever wanted. That can’t be. She won’t let it happen. After a moment’s worth of brooding and a shake of her head, she smiles once again, brighter and more genuine this time.
“Yah! You can’t think like that. We’ve already filmed all these music videos. Think about Teddy oppa’s hard work, the producers, the make up artists, the staff. Don’t you have faith in them?” She lectures the younger, her voice firm and dominant but it’s followed by a chuckle indicative of the lighthearted nature she’s meant to deliver. “I understand you’re nervous, anxious, et cetera, et cetera—” she waves her hands in both directions dismissively. “I am too. But you know, He’s watching over you, right?” She did that. She just pulled the religious card on her, hoping it triggers something that’s been missing in her at this very moment.
“A lot of people are watching over you, including me.” She points at herself. “I see that little sparkle in your eyes each time, it’s even shining brighter these past few days.” Her forefinger and thumb gentle pinches at her friend’s cheek. “Don’t let it fade away.” Maybe it doesn’t entirely answer the question but in this way, she’s meaning to leave it up to Chaeyoung to come to a conclusion.
