At this hour, Hanbin was beyond thankful and relieved when he finally received the text he’s been anticipating the most from one of YG’s popular trainees, Lisa, also known as one of Jennie’s closest friends and his current conspirator. Since he knew he wouldn’t be able to drop by the company earlier today, it was through Lisa’s help that he’s able to deliver his gifts to the birthday girl. Generally, Hanbin doesn’t know if he would be able to pull this off so he was undeniably nervous from the day he approached Lisa and up today despite planning all of these a week before Jennie’s birthday.
[ sms from: Lisa ] Got the stuff from the lobby. I’m giving them to Jennie unnie now :)
As he read the confirmation, a whistle that sounded of relief was produced from his puckered lips while he immediately typed his short but sincere reply.
[ sms to: Lisa ] Thank you! I owe you one…. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Earlier that day, Hanbin shortly dropped by YG and met Lisa in the parking lot to hand her a medium sized white paper bag which contained a dolphin plush and a small box wherein it held the following contents. x
Upon opening the one of a kind box, a handwritten note could be easily noticed on one of its pleats and the message says… “I’M SORRY I TOUCHED YOUR IPOD… BUT YOU SHOULD REALLY OPEN IT AND GO TO THE PLAYLISTS!”
Lisa had been teasing her all day about some sort of surprise and if anyone knew Jennie, they’d know she had a tendency to be impatient. The thought of it had her anxious in between all the greetings and presents she’d accepted, even along the time they were to hang out and lose themselves. She kept an eye on her but she’d slipped in the short moment that she becomes preoccupied. Now she’s onto a ‘fuck it’ attitude because she also wanted to enjoy her day and that starts with a peace of mind.
She’s not disappointed, however. Accompanied by Lisa presenting her a box, a cute one shaped like a bear, the buzz of her phone that was stored in her back pocket startled her.
[ sms ← ahjussi ] did you get your presents, birthday girl? anyway.. are you free tonight or are you too busy partying? hahaha
As much as she wanted to reply, besides the busy and loud background that kept her spirit alive, she was won over by the surprise in front of her. She shoved her hand inside the paper bag and fished out a dolphin plushie that leaves an idiotic grin on her face. “So that’s what it is,” she mumbles to herself, just now realizing what ‘Jendolphin’ was for. Arms stringing around the cushion of a toy, she savors the gift with a squeeze. Of course he won it, she thinks and laughs at the idea of its convenience.
It doesn’t stop with the kiddie gift but what comes with the package wasn’t anything she’d expected. Surely, an external hard drive wasn’t a cheap gift but the fact that it’s been used before would have made its worth a little less. She never would have imagined he would match the former gift. Or did he? Maybe it wasn’t the intention but regardless of what the real forethought was, it still was a fancy gift. She was impressed but more than anything, touched.
“Oh!” she exclaims softly, picking up the note that was attached. She snorts at the message written in block, following as it says. The songs start to play and she couldn’t hide the smile on her face anymore. Lisa, or anyone else in the room, would be giving her looks at this point but she didn’t care and she was practically stifling squeals. “Friends, huh?” she muses out loud with a satisfied grin. She was getting ahead of herself on this one, sure, but if none of the songs meant anything at all it would have been slander. Maybe after this she’ll get over it and be normal again, especially around him when they meet again. Hopefully tonight.
