With everything going on he doesn’t even feel threatened by the lawsuit. Nevermind that she had the biggest music agency in South Korea backing her, but he was a rising yakuza boss. A dirty one with connections that could probably rig the whole ‘suit’. Not that he believed she could actually slam one on him – Jennie wouldn’t have the heart to, and he almost wishes she wasn’t so nice. “Yeah, yeah. Have mercy now you know me. Only an heir.” He’ll be vague about what he’s been up to because the focus here was her news. It seems he’s missed out on a whole lot more than just her hair changing, and it finally hits him that people have lived their lives here too regardless of his absence.

“Alright whatever. I fucked up. But I’ve been through a lot so don’t start asking me to apologise. It was never in my character to.” And what she says afterwards only confirms that she hasn’t forgotten who he was. Particularly where women were concerned he was still the shallow Yun, and while it was hard to bear for some he’ll forever be glad that it didn’t bother Jennie. He’s taken by surprise at the detail tied in with it though. ‘Those looks are… gone?’ Oh.

“That’s fucked up.” He’s almost sure he misheard it. The girl was a civilian and if anything, it made more sense to believe that it was Lucky dead of an overdose. So unless there’s a new die-in-3-months disease he didn’t know about, Jisoo’s death hovers over him like a mystery of surprising concern. Probably because towards the end of her life, she became a figure to someone who saved his own without him asking. “That doesn’t sound like Lucky. He just.. let it happen? Where’s the motherfucker right now?” It annoyingly hits home because he was 13 the last time someone was taken from him. He couldn’t do anything back then, but rolls his eyes in consideration that not everybody who dies was murdered. Maybe his friend was being normal and mourning - something he didn’t know how to do anymore. “You hung out with her a lot… How are you holding up though?”

For the first time since their disconnect and into the attempt of reconciliation, he talks about himself. Only briefly but she notices because he used to do it often, and always in great esteem. Now she starts up getting curious and concerned. But mostly curious. “Only an heir, huh? How’s it been anyway…? Anything to share?” her tone was cautious because she still remembers he never really liked his own father and she’s always just had the impression that even the life he lived, he didn’t. Just had no choice.

Soft laughter strings through her lips exuberantly and she looks at him with furrowed eyebrows despite the smile that stayed in her features. “Why’d you think I was gonna ask you for an apology?” She leans back, plastered on her face was a glower as if she’d sipped on a cup of pure black coffee. Though they’ve been estranged, she still knew details about him. He was a close friend regardless how he’d felt about her or how dysfunctional their relationship could be at times.

With merely three words, she adheres to silence again. Yun probably knew Lucky more than Jennie did and the way Jennie knew their mutual friend was different as far as she’s been told. At some point, she did wonder how he was able to leave the person he first opened up to completely after mustering the courage most his life but what’s new? The type of person he was, Jennie didn’t know firsthand but there’s no denying the villain beneath the friendly facade. “For the record, she wasn’t murdered. He wasn’t anywhere near when it happened. I don’t know where he is now nor do I care. We’ve lost all contact almost as soon as you left.” she had to do it in one blow or she would have bursted so now she’s catching her breath. But just then a bigger question comes up.

“She was my best friend. What do you think?” she bites on her lip to swell what pain in the form of liquid threatened to escape her. Answering the question with all seriousness would have broken her down and maybe he expected that, but she’s not about to cry in his arms right on the first time they’re seeing each other a long while after the departure she was still a honestly holding bitter thoughts over.
